Experiencing America

The assignment challenged me to design two posters for artists whose work was featured at the Whitney Museum in New York City. Created in Spring 2025, the posters highlight two separate exhibitions—each exploring the symbolism and emotional weight of the American flag. Though the shows occurred at different times, both reinterpret the flag as a personal and cultural symbol, inviting viewers to question their relationship to nationhood, identity, and tradition.

In developing the designs, I looked for conceptual and visual parallels between the artists’ works. I relied on a grid system to bring structure and balance to the compositions and drew inspiration from the Whitney’s refined, minimalist aesthetic. The result is a pair of posters that feel distinct yet connected—united by theme, form, and a shared sense of reflection.
